As we say goodbye to 2020, Dan and Dave take a look back at the year that was. As terrible as things were, we still got some good gaming news, releases and a two new console releases to usher in the 9th gaming generation. And finally, as is tradition, the nominees for game of the year are announced. We’ll be announcing them on the first show of the new year. In the news, Apple and Google remove Fortnite from their app stores, Epic sues Apple over anti-competitive behavior, Halo Infinite is delayed till 2021 and Remedy’s Control gets an ultimate edition with exclusive graphical updates for next gen consoles. Finally we get some show stopping next gen footage. Epic debuts the Unreal 5 engine on PS5 hardware and wows the internet. Rated G discusses what this means for next gen. Also in the news, Ghosts of Tsushima takes center stage in Sony’s latest State of Play, Tony Hawk 1 & 2 get the HD remake treatment and a new Paper Mario is coming in July.
The day has come folks! Our resident RPG hater has come around and seen the light. Dan loves the FFVII Remake, both of your hosts do. It’s an amazing remake, perhaps the best and they discuss at the top of the show. In the news, Ubisoft announces a viking themed Assassin’s Creed game, Geoff Keighley has a massive game fest planned for the summer and the summer GDC is now going all digital.
