Gravity Circuit from developer Domesticated Ant Games and Publisher PID Games is a love letter to the Mega Man games of yore. It was available to play at the PID Games booth and was the first I played at PAX East.
You play as Kai, a lone warrior battling an evil robotic army in a post-apocalyptic world. Not much else in known plot wise, although when you encounter the stage boss, some back and forth dialogue happens before doing battle which does provide some hints on the game’s backstory.
30XX, the sequel to the indie hit 20XX, is a Mega Man influenced rogue like that adds a unique twist on the formula. On the PAX East show floor on Thursday, we got some hands on time with the game. This go around are a bunch of new features, a fresh new art style and local and online co-op multiplayer for up to two people. You can choose between either Nina, who is the ranged choice or Ace who’s the more melee oriented character.
On the PAX East show floor, was an interesting game on display. A side scrolling action game Nocturnal by developer Sunnyside Games. I went in not knowing much about this game and was surprised at what I got to experience.
PAX East 2023 has come to a close and Dan and Dave are exhausted in a good way. This episode highlights some of the best of the show. They cover 30XX, Nocturnal, Elsie, Strayed Lights, Wrestlequest and more. Also in the news, The Last Ronin comic is being adapted into a videogame, Valve announces Counter-Strike 2 and Atari buys Nightdive Studios all on episode 352.
From studio Fallen Leaf comes a third person, narrative thriller set on Mars called Fort Solis. We got to experience a preview build of the game on the PAX East show floor and it did not disappoint.
The game is an exploration of space station and it’s surroundings to figure out what caused an alarm call from a mining base on the planet’s surface. You play as Jack Leary, a repair engineer, who takes it upon himself to answer the call and investigate what’s going on. It stars such talent as Troy Baker, Roger Clark and Julia Brown, they pull double duty with motion capture and voice acting.
