When I first saw this game at PAX East 2019 – Indie Megabooth I fell in love with the pixel art style and old school platforming. This is a new game made by the developer Dirty Beast Games but it seemed strangely familiar. I only had a chance to preview the game for a few minutes but my initial thought was this is the Tales stand alone game (from the Sonic series) we never got on the Sega Genesis back in the 90’s.
In the game you play a character names Raynard. Both Tales and Reynard are small to medium sized furry tan mammals which are where my comparison starts and ends. Feral Frontier is more like Ninja Gaiden in the Mega Man universe with anthropomorphic characters. You can hit enemies by whipping your tale, jump platforms and climb walls the same way I use to do in Ninja Gaiden on the NES. You can also shoot enemies and have to do timely attacks in boss battles like in the Mega Man games.
There is no release date yet but Feral Frontier is shaping up to be quite a release and this is one game I will be keeping my eye on and can’t wait to learn more.
